The Explorer Post is a program under the Boy Scouts of America that is available to youth members between the ages of 14 – 20 that have completed the 8th grade and have an interest in the fire service. The Walker County Emergency Services (WCES) Explorer Post is #2146. The post has meetings on Monday nights starting at 6:00 P.M. and the training will cover basic firefighting skills, CPR, First Aid, and numerous other fire service related topics. Once trained, the Explorers may act in a support role on emergency scenes and assist with non-emergency activities. Also, the Explorer Program may compete in Muster Competitions against other Explorer Programs throughout the state.
Fire Chief Randy Camp serves as the Post Committee Chair along with the Volunteer Coordinator, Kevin Edmondson, who serves as the Lead Post Advisor. Numerous firefighters and fire officers from WCES serve as Volunteer Advisors.
